I’ve been on a haiku kick lately, probably due to a big project I’ve been working on these past few months…so for those of you who don’t ‘get’ haiku, I promise I’ll have something different next week!
Margaret is hosting Poetry Friday today at Reflections on the Teche, so head on over for the complete roundup! And by the way…this post is my 399th! I cannot believe I’ll be publishing my 400th post next Friday. The years have been flying by – both personally and professionally – since I started this blog in 2012, so thank you so much for joining me on this journey!

Fun haiku and intriguing image, Matt. I would never tire of haikus, I’m a big fan of them!

Thanks, Michelle…I like them, too, and this project I’m working on has me in ‘haiku mode’ round the clock!

Very magical. You are a wizard with words. I wrote haiku today, too. 🙂

Congratulations, Matt, on the Kirkus star! Librarians know how stingy Kirkus is in giving them out!

Thanks, Diane – a positive review would’ve been enough to celebrate, but that little extra ‘star’ makes it extra-special!

I wrote haiku for PF, too, Matt. Sometimes it seems fitting, though I always wonder what Issa would say. I love your idea of the picture, “breakers bewitching”. One cannot stop watching when they look like that.

Thanks so much, Linda – I liked what you did with your haiku, as well!

I enjoyed your haiku, Matt, and it paired beautifully with the photo. I was watching the ocean today but it did not look as exquisite as what you showed. Please send me an offering for my spring gallery. I always love having your voice amongst others.

Thank you, Carol, I appreciate it! I’m hoping to get you a revised version of last week’s haiku, as you requested…just trying to find the time!

Longing for time by the ocean now. As others have said, I never tire of haiku — either reading it or writing it. While it can be challenging at times, it is great in a pinch!

We’ll be heading off to York Beach again soon, as we do each June, so I think the ocean has been calling me of late. As I always tell people, writing haiku is easy – writing GOOD haiku is extremely difficult! So I always hope I fall somewhere in-between. 🙂
