I continue adding to my “Wit & Wordplay” videos ! These videos were created for parents and educators (along with their kids) to learn how to write poetry, appreciate it, and have fun with it. From alliteration and iambs to free verse and spine poetry, I’m pretty sure there’s something in these videos you’ll find surprising! You can view them all on my YouTube channel, and if you have young kids looking for something to keep busy with, I also have several downloadable activity sheets at my website.

I love it all but you gave me a smile thinking of those ‘weary bees’. Wonderful to imagine when the night roses get their show!

Thanks, Linda. I saw them blooming and had to take a picture – and knew immediately I needed to write a poem about them. Half an hour later, I had one!

Matt, beautiful personified nature. It sounds like a whole community relating and living together. Here are two magical phrases that really jumped out: “hivey homes” and “blush-faced” Nice!

This is beautiful! I love how all the elements of nature in the poem have become children and your language – pollen-painted, hivey homes – is just beautiful!

Lovely poem with it’s pollen-painted bees and so much more. It’s interesting to consider flowers that bloom at night and why.

Thanks, Janice. Of course, the question is…do they ACTUALLY bloom at night, or was that simply the poet’s interpretation? 😉
