I know, we’re in the middle of winter…so what am I doing, you ask?
This poem originally appeared on Carol Varsalona’s blog, Beyond Literacy, a few days after Christmas – and although I hope you had a chance to check out all the contributors’ works, I wanted to showcase the poem here, as well. The photo has been going around the internet for awhile, so I wish I knew to whom it should be attributed; I must thank them for the inspiration!
Again, you can view all the poems and photos in Carol’s gallery HERE, and please leave a comment so she knows you visited. And for more poetry and links, please visit Keri at Keri Recommends for today’s Poetry Friday roundup!

It’s just perfect, Matt. And I don’t mind another autumn poem, especially here in the winter cold! Good memories!

Matt, I’ve never seen this photo so it was a nice surprise for me today. Your haiku is perfect. Your image of autumn as a crimson kiss will stay with me. : )

Matt, thanks for the shoutout and for your contribution. Think winter now. I will announce the new gallery soon. I am sure that winter where you are looks so different than Long Island. I am writing about the winter chill today.

Thank you, all – I appreciate your comments! Carol, I’ll definitely write something for your next gallery…although we probably don’t have much more snow than you do!

Of all the amazing photo-poems in Carol’s Gallery, one stood out, so much so that I “had” to call attention to it within my circle of family and friends. That would be yours! Not only is the photo totally compelling, but the haiku is a brilliant complement. If this photo-poem can be entered into a contest, I would vote for it to win! Masterful. God bless you, and thanks for sharing outside the Gallery!

What a gorgeous kiss-shaped leaf! I remember taking a lot of pictures of leaves here in Singapore a few years back – I should probably look into posting them for our Photo Journal – they would make for great poetry prompts. Enjoy winter! We are blessed to have the glorious sun the whole year round in our tropical country. 🙂
